White Board Wiper

I am a good white board wiper because the professor Azevedo asked me to wipe the whiite board in our classroom after I did a good job in white board cleaning. But maybe she doesn't know that I am just lucky to clean the white board efficiently and effective for I got a tissue for temporary markers, not permanent ones.

some classmates called me "hero," and some even took a picture of my back when I was wiping the white board with the good and fast skill. Am I another Bruce Lee to them:>

Study abroad fair and personal feelings

This Tuesday there was a study abroad fair at FH-JOANNEUM in Graz. The purpose of this fair is to introduce the countries and universities which have contracts with FH to their students. So most guests were Austrians, others are the students who were responsible for their own countries and universities.

Paul and me stood (or sometimes squatted) behind the table on which there were brochures about NKFUST and Taiwan, Chinese chess, red envelopes, taiwanese 1 dollar coins, namecards of ours, and my laptop as well.

I think we really did a good job to promote Taiwan and Chinese culture, but maybe not NKFUST. I am sorry that only very few people asked us the information aobut how to study in our university. But when it came to red envelopes, almost everyone was crazy. Paul introduced the origin and story about red envelopes to "foreigners". I asked their names first, then translating them into Chinese. Besides, putting 1 NT dollar into it and making a wish on it were also interesting to them.

Totally, I wrote more than 30 red envelopes in the short 2 hours. Even though feeling tired, I was very glad and proud that we still have many friends in the world as long as we try hard. One Mexican girl came to me and asked, "Is Taiwan part of China?" "No, we are an indepent country!"... "Ok, Mexico is with you^^" Even though so many countries in the world don't admit, we believe we are, and it's enough.

Maybe we don't talk about political issues when I chat with my Chinese classmates who are also good persons. However, I want to feel confident, and I should, too.

Different cultures form different living styles and beliefs, so it's inevitable to have conficts with each other. But, always remember to feel sympathy and make sure that we really have the same feeling with others instead of still being superior when giving our sympathy. So we know who we are human beings.

If nobody can give us power, we have to acquire it by ourselves through improving how good we are. Are you ready?

Good presentation

I finished a mission impossible this morning to give a presentation about ACER's strategy for whole class. I didn't think I can complete it by myself, but I really did it.

First, I want to say thank you to my group members, who are four Chinese girls and one Taiwanese girl, for they give me the opportunity to practice. Second, it's a Korean girl who gave me advice not to read my paer but just to say whatever I remember and to read only when necessary. Third, the Professor undoubtedly made me feel confident to continue my presentation by saying yes and nodding when I am in front of everybody. Fourth, After the presentation, my claamates gave me a big hand and one American guy and sweden guy told me "good presentation!", which encourage me again. Fifth, a Japanese girl called Kanako suggested me to have different tones and paces next time, which may be the key factors in addion to the contents to the presentation.

I like to see your smiling face, as I know I can do better next time with your support. Thank you!

What's the difference

In the supermarket, I asked a female worker who was passing by me when I was standing in front of the rice product. I asked, what's the difference between this two? She tought for a while, seeming to search the fittest English words to explain to me.

"This one is better!", she pointed one of them and said no reason. In fact, I wanted to know the difference because they are the same brand with different flavors.

I listened to her.

Way Back Into Love

The online radio program in Taiwan just played this sweat song. I hearded it and felt warm.

Move to Autria

Not me, but my father. He likes to smoke very much, and actually he is addicted to the cigarette a lot. Every time he smokes in the house, I always ask him go outside because we need a room with fresh air. I also tell my father that we should respect others, so he shouldn't smoke when somebody else feels uncomfortable because of the smoke. Actually the most important reason is foy his health. But, he doesn't want to listen to me, so I have to make a teaching course to him^^

Father, I am so sorry. You should move to Austria, because almost everyone smokes, including males and females. Besides, they are allowed to smoke inside the room. Maybe we can try to make our house an Austrian style^^

Beginner

When we say "Beginner" in Chinese, that means you are not so good sometimes. But, here it is totally different. People use this word just as a normal word without special intention. For example, are you a beginner in Chinese? Don't feel embarrassed or angry next time when you hear that because it's just only merely "beginner"^^

SHE and HE

In oral chinese, there is no difference between She and he. So, I always confuse that which word should I use when I speak English, and I always choose the wrong one!

Besides, as to Chinese people or Taiwanese people, we can just say she or he if we talk about our parents or elder people. We think it's impolite. We have to start with "my mother or my father....," or maybe "my mother she or my father he....." Also, it's not appropriate to call our parents' names. We have much difference from Austrian culture.

Respect is very important in our culture, at least in my family and in my mind^^

ちびまる子ちゃん

I liked the best when I was a little boy. My sister and I watched it together on the sofa or bed. I miss past...

Respect others, and you get respect from others.

I made pickles four days ago, and I wanted to cook fried rice today tith the pickles. When I took it to the kitchen, two of my flatmates were kind of sick. They didn't like it very well, especiall the special smell and the four days. They thought there must be bacteria inside, and it already went sour. Besides, they never eat the food if it is the second day after first-time cooking.

I know it's better to eat something fresh, but I also know that many Asian people eat this kind of food, pickles. In addition, I see many Europeans here who eat "frozen" fish, vegetable, and meat, which are also regarded as "UNHEALTHY FOODS" in Taiwan, or maybe in other countries in north-east Asia.

I would say it is because of the different eating and cooking cultures.

In chinese there is an old saying that, if you don't know very much about one thing, you had better keep silent and just listen. Of course, you can have your own opinion, but don't show the unforcomtable feeling of disliking. It's the basic principle of politeness to express not to hurt other people to their faces.

I tell myself that I never look down upon others, becuse I am not always the best? And, how can I prove to others that I am the best? I can only convince myself, and become better.

This is the way how I live.
